Well what a busy end of the term and year. We are so proud of all our students who participated enthusiastically in the pantomime and I am sure you will agree with us that it was a successful night. The students have been busy with all sorts of activities, we have been swimming, playing tee ball and bat down, exploring down the back of the field, reading some pretty interesting books with lots of new language. Playing some new math games, christmas crafts and much much more. As I was reading the students a story on Thursday we had a student nod off to sleep. I would like to say it is the soothing tones of my voice but I think it is more likely a combination of the end of the year and the heat.

Miss McGeady is moving on at the end of the year to take up a position at Blaketown School, lucky them and we wish her well in her new job. I would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to our amazing teacher aides, Amanda and Salena. Thank you so much for your dedication to our students, your guidance and patience, your forward thinking and can do attitude. I couldn’t have done this term without you both.

The students of Ruma Piwakawaka have been a delight to teach this term and I would like to thank all of them for welcoming me into their room.

Wishing you all a very merry christmas and a restful and happy 2018.

The wearable art show was a huge success with the students’ idea’s brought to life. We experienced a variety of costumes, accessories and fur inspired creations.

We were lucky to get a break in the weather and Athletics Day ran smoothly. Several of the students qualified for the finals, trying their best and gaining the results they were aiming for.

Thank you for all the support from parents and the community watching cheering and helping out.

Have a great weekend.

These last 2 weeks of term 4 have been a whirlwind of activity in Ruma Piwakawaka as we welcome our new teacher Mrs Anderson to our class.

The students have been putting finishing touches on their wearable art project. There have been practises in P.E. for long jump, high jump, relays, and discus as sports day is the 1st fine day next week. Please remind students to bring their sunhats.

The St John Ambulance lady showed us how to apply pressure bandage and elevate if we have a serious cut. Also who to call in an emergency situation. We will be practice phone numbers and addresses next week.

From Mrs Anderson, Miss McGeady and Amanda. Have a happy weekend, see you on Monday.
