Toki Pounamu

Our school has partnered with a nationwide organisation called the Manaiakalani Trust. The West Coast outreach of this trust is called Toki Pounamu. We belong to the Hokitika Hub of Toki Pounamu.

The aim of this partnership is to better engage our students in their learning. There are several aspects to the Manaiakalani programme.

Digital literacy for students and teachers is one of these aspects. At HPS, we have one-to-one Chromebooks in our Year 4, 5 and 6 classes. Students are invited to purchase their own Chromebook for use in class and at home when they reach Year 4. Those unable to purchase Chromebooks are assigned a school-owned Chromebook to use at school.

Our teachers are continuously upskilling in how to best use digital technology to extend and celebrate our students' learning.
